Coronavirus Update April 2020

AGM & Audit

Bowls Tasmania has advised Clubs that Consumer Affairs & Fair Trading have confirmed that clubs unable to hold their AGM, via electronic format, can postpone the AGM until in a position to do so, once social distancing and non-essential gatherings are lifted.  The Committee of Management (CoM) have determined it would be in the best interest of the members of the Howrah Bowls Club to therefore postpone our AGM at this time.

Therefore, the term of office for the CoM will be extended, in a caretaker capacity, until such time as the AGM can be held.  The Committee will continue to be responsible for the Governance of the Club i.e. carry out the day to day functions, including preparations for the 2020-2021 season.

The club’s finances are to be audited in the normal manner and submitted to Consumer Affairs & Fair Trading within the specified guidelines.  It may be necessary to submit them prior to the AGM, nevertheless, they will be tabled at the AGM in the normal manner.

The Club’s Financial Year ended on 31 March and Milton is working frantically to finalise all necessary paperwork for presentation to Accrue for audit purposes.  Also, the Helloworld raffle draw will be postponed until Opening Day – something to look forward to at a date to be determined.

Indoor Bowls Centre

Members are reminded that the Centre is closed until further notice with only members required for the administration of the club and undertaking maintenance work gaining access to the Centre.

Grass Green

Col Hewlett and his team are doing a great job preparing the green for next season whilst following all required social and isolation protocols.

Action will be undertaken very shortly to finalise the sowing of new grass and hopefully we will have good weather to get things started before the colder days set in.

What Next

We will continue to follow Government directives and will be ready to call for nominations for CoM positions and convene an AGM as soon as safely practicable.  Please keep in touch with each other and stay safe for yourselves, family and friends.

We will be looking to provide another update once we have some other information to provide.
